Michael G. Harris - Owner and Founder, MBA, Certified Integrative
Processing Therapist, Professional Engineer.
After 20 years of working in the energy and engineering fields, a series of
dreams guided Michael G. Harris to a fuller expression of himself by revealing
important aspects of an intuitive, feeling self that had long been unperceived
in the shadow of his firmly entrenched rationality. In one dream, Michael sat in
a book-lined study accompanied by a German engineer and an Italian Renaissance
man. Sitting in a heavy, leather upholstered chair, Michael threw his head back
and roared; “Now I understand!” As he said these words, the chair he was in
floated up into the air. From somewhere up near the ceiling, looking down upon
his two companions, Michael exclaimed, “I’m not an engineer, I’m a romantic!”
Things have not been the same since.
In September 2005, he made the decision to start a consulting firm. Michael is
committed to the principles that contributed to the vision of the firm and to
those that have since emerged as he follows a path of creating a work life that
honors his deepest values. These principles include the importance of working
and making a difference locally, of helping other small businesses thrive, and
being a channel for the implementation of projects that contribute to greater
sustainability, both locally and globally.
The firm continues to grow by focusing on important strategic themes that
include fostering a culture of making a living through inspired passion, letting
wisdom emerge from methodical aggregation of knowledge and the experience of
doing, and offering imaginative products that provide valuable benefits to the
community. As a result, Michael and Harris Management Services, LLC have
established themselves as experts in the field of Total Sustainability. Michael
writes and speaks from this expertise frequently.
Michael has a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of
Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science degree from Jordan Energy Institute. He is
a Certified Integrative Processing Therapist, a professional engineer, an author
of three books; a children’s book, The Enlightened Crab, a novel called Deep
River, and the soon to be published non-fiction work about sustainability
entitled Abundance: The Journey Home.
Michael’s wife is a practicing Feng Shui practitioner who often works on
projects of the firm. They have a daughter and live in East Haddam, Connecticut.
